What is Future Problem Solvers?
The Future Problem Solving Program (FPSP) teaches students how to think, not what to think. This is accomplished by teaching critical and creative thinking skills, and problem solving and decision making skills via a six-step process. Developing these skills helps students to improve their academic and social achievement. There are three levels of competition: senior (Grades 10 - 12), middle (Grades 7-9), and junior (grades 4 - 6). Each team is made up of 3-4 students. Teams will complete practice problems and one qualifying problem throughout the year. Trained evaluators score the student work and return it with feedback and suggestions for improvement. The top scoring teams on the qualifying problem are invited to Affiliate FPSP Bowls held each spring. The winners of each respective Affiliate FPPS Bowl advance to the FPSP International Conference in June. Lester Prairie has made it to the International Conference before and we'd love for that to happen again! TOPICS THIS YEAR!
