Mr. Jeremy Schmidt
Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members:
As Superintendent of the Lester Prairie School District, it is my pleasure and honor to continue to make our school a leader in education and extracurricular activities. I am excited to begin continue to build on the changes we made in the past and continue to look forward to working with an experienced and dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students.
Lester Prairie Schools boasts excellent test scores as shown by their placement as a "Reward School" by the Minnesota Department of Education. This placement puts our elementary school within the top 15% of elementary schools offering Title 1 services. As I continue to look around the school and community it is apparent of the success and support that has been developed between the school and community.
Prior to joining LP Schools, I was a classroom teacher in grades 3-8, and I have coached students age 3 to the high school varsity level. I am originally from Greenwood, WI, I attended St. Cloud State University where I received a B.S. Degree in Education and played basketball for the Huskies. After graduating from SCSU, I accepted a middle school teaching and head boy's basketball coaching position at Jackson County Central Schools in southwest MN. Leaving JCC, I accepted an elementary teaching position in the St. Clair School District where I taught 4th grade, and also obtained my Master's of Arts in Education. Just prior to working in LP as the K-12 principal I was a 5th grade teacher in Dassel-Cokato Schools, where I also completed my administrative licensure and started work on my Doctoral Degree.
My wife Kristi and I have a son, Matthew, a daughter, Piper, and our "puppies," Benny and Beckett. I enjoy family time, reading, coaching my children's various sports, travel, and continuing on my own educational journey.
Parents, teachers, support staff, community and administration all have important roles to encourage our children to become active, life-long learners. It is my sincere desire and initiative to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. It is also my desire to continue to provide opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.
Please feel free to contact me at the school, 320-395-3001, or on my cell phone, 320-296-5970, with any questions, concerns, or just to chat about the many educational opportunities we have for our students. Please when you see me around the school or in the community, stop and introduce yourself.
Through a common mission, goals, and curriculum I am confident our school will continue to grow and be a successful place for our students to prepare for adulthood.
Yours in Education,
Lester Prairie School District
