Mr. Mike Bjork
My name is Mike Bjork. I started here at LPHS in August of 2009. Prior to coming to LPHS, I was a student at St. Cloud State University working on my Earth and Space Science Teaching degree. Before going back to college, I was a Police Officer with the City of Savage. An injury on duty ended my 12 year career. While I was with the SPD, I was very involved in our local schools as a D.A.R.E. Officer and School Resource Officer. In addition, I was a trainer with the department. So, when my career ended it seemed kind of natural to go back to school in the field of teaching. While at SCSU, I also worked towards and completed my teaching license in Driver and Traffic Safety (fancy words for Driver's Education).
I hold degrees from Mankato State University in Law Enforcement and from St. Cloud State University in Earth and Space Science Teaching.
The classes that I teach at LPHS include 7th/8th grade Life Science (every other year), 7th/8th grade Earth Science (every other year opposite Life Science, 11th/12th grade Advanced Science,6th grade General Science,9th grade Physical Science and Driver's Education.
I also am the head coach of the Bulldog Trap Shooting Team. All students in grades 7-12 who have their Firearms Safety Certificate from the MN DNR are eligible to participate. Come see me if you are interested or have questions.
Most recently, I was hired as the Head Coach of the Ridgewater College - Hutchinson Trap Shooting team. I will be coaching the Warriors for the fall season.
I live in Winsted with my wife, Vickie. I have two daughters: Allie is a Registered Nurse with Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park and Maggie (an LP grad) is a Registered Nurse with Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Maggie is married to LP grad Blake Klaustermeier.
I am a big fan of high school sports so you will probably see me in the gym or at the field cheering on the Bulldogs. Stop by and say Hi.
