Mr. Mike Bjork

Welcome

My name is Mike Bjork. I started here at LPHS in August of 2009. Prior to coming to LPHS, I was a student at St. Cloud State University working on my Earth and Space Science Teaching degree. Before going back to college, I was a Police Officer with the City of Savage. An injury on duty ended my 12 year career. While I was with the SPD, I was very involved in our local schools as a D.A.R.E. Officer and School Resource Officer. In addition, I was a trainer with the department. So, when my career ended it seemed kind of natural to go back to school in the field of teaching. While at SCSU, I also worked towards and completed my teaching license in Driver and Traffic Safety (fancy words for Driver's Education).

I hold degrees from Mankato State University in Law Enforcement and from St. Cloud State University in Earth and Space Science Teaching.

For the past 14 years here at LPHS I have taught 7th, 8th, and 9th grade science class.  This year is going to be totally different for me.  I will be teaching 10th grade Biology, 11th/12th grade Chemistry, and 11th/12th grade Anatomy.  This isgoing to be challenge for me but I am up for it.

I also am the head coach of the Bulldog Trap Shooting Team. All students in grades 7-12 who have their Firearms Safety Certificate from the MN DNR are eligible to participate.  Come see me if you are interested or have questions.

About 5 years ago, I was hired to be the Head Coach of the Trap Shooting team at Ridgewater College.  I coach the Hutchinson campus squad while another set of coaches takes care of the Willmar squad.  I oversee the entire program

I live in Winsted with my wife, Vickie.  I have two daughters: Allie is a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia and Maggie (LP Alumni -Class of 2015) is a Registered Nurse at  Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.  Maggie is married to LP grad Blake Klaustermeier (Class of 2014)

I am a big fan of high school sports so you will probably see me in the gym or at the field cheering on the Bulldogs.  Stop by and say Hi.
